⚡ Why We Built This
And What We’re Trying to Fix
At LDS, we didn’t set out to build another dashboard or carbon calculator. We built this because we could see what’s coming — and what was being overlooked.
What’s coming
Across the UK, carbon and energy reporting is tightening. Larger organisations already face formal obligations. But increasingly, schools, charities, care providers, and small businesses are being asked: • How energy-efficient are you? • What are you doing to reduce emissions? • Can you prove it?
The pressure is coming from funders, regulators, and customers — and it’s only going to increase.
But the tools on offer are often too expensive, too complex, or don’t reflect how these organisations actually work.
⸻
What it’s already costing
Carbon reporting is not just a technical challenge — it’s a financial and time burden too. • SMEs typically spend days per year gathering and formatting data • Charities and schools often don’t have any dedicated energy staff, meaning reports fall to stretched finance or admin teams • Studies show that small organisations spend £6,000–£7,000 a year just on compliance tasks — and larger SMEs can spend over £40,000 • In the public sector, schemes like CRC added £20 million per year in admin costs alone • And in many cases, organisations are excluded from grants or tenders because they can’t produce the right reports
It’s not just hard — it’s unaffordable for the people who need it most.
⸻
What we’re trying to fix
Too many organisations — especially charities — are stuck with: • Utility bills that arrive weeks too late • Spreadsheets that no one fully trusts • Consultants that cost more than the energy they save • Systems that over-promise and under-deliver
We’re changing that by making carbon and energy reporting something that’s genuinely useful — not just a compliance tick-box.
⸻
What we’ve built
We’ve developed a system that takes real data — from buildings, vehicles and systems — and turns it into clear, timely, practical advice.
It can tell you: • How much energy you used yesterday • What it cost you • How much carbon it created • And what you could do differently next time
All in plain English, with AI-generated summaries that explain what’s happening, why it matters, and how to save money or cut emissions.
You’ll receive useful reports you can send straight to a trustee, a funder, or a leadership team.
You don’t need new hardware, a technical background, or a training session. Just insight you can act on.
⸻
Why we’re different
We believe every organisation should have access to high-quality energy and carbon reporting — not just those with a budget for consultants and software licences.
Especially charities. Especially schools. Especially those doing real good in the world, with limited time and resources.
We’re here to help people make better decisions. Not just report on the bad ones. One building, one insight, one action at a time
